Here are some highly recommended entertainment options coming up this weekend!

At the Firehall Arts Centre, Gore and Cordova (604-689-0926) until Sunday October 21st is “The Returning Journey” the personal life story of Dalannah Gail Bowen, with Michael Creber on the piano. Dalannah is a wonderful singer who uses poems and songs to tell the story of her journey through tragedy and survival to hope, health and happiness. It is a most inspiring performance. Tickets are $20/$18 at the door.

At the Roundhouse, 181 Roundhouse Mews, Davie and Pacific (604-713-1800) until Saturday October 20th, including a matinee at 2 p.m. Saturday, is “Take a Breath” performed by 25 players (singers, dancers, actors) telling in one minute each a vignette from their lives. It is woven together by Valerie Methot, who conceived and directed this wonderful collage. It is an exhilarating show. Tickets are $10/$8 at the door.

Starting on Wednesday October 24th and running until November 4th is the 4th annual Downtown Eastside Heart of the City Festival featuring over 200 artists at over 80 events at 25 locations.
