Firehall Arts Centre – Only Drunks and Children Tell the Truth

This event runs from November 14, 2017 until December 2, 2017.

Written by celebrated Indigenous playwright Drew Hayden Taylor, Only Drunks and Children Tell The Truth is the gripping account of the “60’s scoop-up” phenomenon, in which Native children were taken from their families, their communities, and their culture to be adopted into white households. Dealing with themes of abandonment, reconciliation, identity, and cultural dissonance, this comically rich and devastatingly truthful production, first produced by the Firehall in the 90’s, is an unforgettable piece of Canadian theatre Tickets $30/25

The Cinematheque – 20th Annual European Union Film Festival

This event runs from November 24, 2017 until December 4, 2017.

Frankie’s Jazz Club – Dave Say’s Soul Serenade

Known for his soulful melodic sound and powerhouse improvisation, the multi-talented Dave Say plays in a diverse number of bands ranging from jazz, R&B, funk, and big bands. His latest project is a tribute to soul and jazz songs from the likes of Tom Scott, Grover Washington, Stevie Wonder, Eddie Harris, and more. Dave is joined by his smokin’ hot band featuring Bruno Hubert piano, Olaf de Shield guitar, Darren Paris bass, and Craig White drums. $15 cover

Western Front – Toque Annual Fundraiser & Craft Fair Free event

Initially developed to draw people together around a central mission, the evolution of the protest song has continued to evoke a powerful message; amplifying social change through subversive lyrics, unique settings and sites of resistance. His illustrious career began with busking his way through Canada and the NYC subways, playing over 150 shows a year to enthralled audiences.
