Hi!
Greetings from cold, wet, windy Toronto! Things here have been going very well
After I arrived, my first 2 days were filled with work-related things: wardrobe fittings, camera tests, hair and makeup tests (which included a haircut!), a reading of the script
Then I had a nice week off before my first day of shooting
Thank goodness, as I got a chance to work on the script
And then I really got down to work
I've been averaging about 12 hours a day
Crazy! But really, that's not too bad
:) My first day of filming was great! I loved working with the director, and it was so much fun working with my TV mom and sister
And every day on set since then has been just as great
I'm working with a lot of very talented actors who have done many movies and TV shows
They have been very supportive, and I love that every one of them have been surprised when they've found out that this is my first film
(They usually find out after we've done a few scenes together)
This show has been treating me extremely well
I have drivers who takes me to set, and back home
Yay! No trying to figure out the transit system
Once on set, we're greeted by an assistant who takes our breakfast orders, which get delivered to either our trailers, or to the hair/makeup trailer - whichever one we're at
We get our sides for the day (the scenes that we're working on that day), get made up and into wardrobe, then we're taken to set
The director, David Wu, is so great to work with
He welcomes us each day with a great big hug and smile, then we block out the scene
We go through it once or twice, then he shows the Director of Photography (DOP) how he wants the scene shot
Our stand-ins take over, while they set up the cameras and lights
Once they're ready, we come back to the set, rehearse a couple times for the cameras, to make sure they're set up the right way, and then we shoot! After we're done, then they set up the cameras for different angles, and the whole process repeats
There's usually at least 3 camera angles for any given scene
Our meal break is always called "lunch", no matter whether it's served at noon or night
And "lunch" is always amazing
We have a buffet with a huge selection of salads, fruits, vegetables, and hot food
Plus, there's a dessert buffet as well
And the food is always high quality and very tasty
And if that wasn't enough, this past Friday, our DOP brought in dim sum for the entire cast and crew! I wasn't on set at the time, but our production assistant brought a plate of food to my trailer for me
She's very thoughtful! And man, was it ever good food
Anyway, that about wraps up what a day on set is like for me
I know I haven't mentioned how much hard work there is for me, but that's because I'm enjoying it so much! Honestly, I'm loving every minute of it
Oh! CTV has released an article about our show
