It's Ready to Leave the Station, so Book Your Seat...
New York in sixteen hours,
Anything can happen in those sixteen hours...
Oscar is a once-legendary theatre producer who needs a hit badly. On the run from yet another theatrical disaster in Chicago, his only way out is to hop aboard the luxury train, The Twentieth Century, make up with his ex-girlfriend (now a famous film star), get her signed up for a new project, and find a financial backer all before the train hits New York.
As the famous train hurtles its way along, the producer and his two henchmen scheme, manoeuvre, and re-group around the star, her matinee idol boy-toy, a fanatical evangelist, and loads of singing porters!
This rarely-performed show won five Tony Awards in 1978 including Best Book and Score.
The first company of its kind in Canada, APPLAUSE! Musicals in Concert produces rare, forgotten, shelved, or seldom-produced musicals in concert, staged with a full cast/chorus and minimal production elements like choreography and costumes.
I'm very excited to be aboard the "Twentieth Century" as a member of the chorus. You'll also see me in two or three quick one-line "roles" so keep your eyes peeled!
