"STRIKE UP THE BAND" UPDATE!
It's only two days until "STRIKE UP THE BAND", a zany farce that gave us several timeless Gershwin tunes, and continues to deliver laughs galore as well! See below for updated ticket information.
"I started with nothing - just a pound of cheese and the memory of my mother. She had a very bad memory."
If you've never seen an Applause! Musicals production, you could hardly do better than this one to come on out and see what all the fuss is about! With just our binders and minimal props, thirty singers present rarely-seen or long forgotten Broadway shows. And STRIKE UP THE BAND is a treasure trove of great songs and wild and wooly Marx-Brothers-style comedy. It's also my first time playing a full role in an Applause! show - as the mysterious yet critical Spelvin!
"A fine situation. The army can't find the enemy and the general can't find the army!"
But I'm just a small part of a great cast, featuring talented folk like Matt Ramer, who channels Seinfeld's Mr. Peterman as the non-sequitir-spouting Horace J. Fletcher, president of Fletcher's American Cheese Company. Stephen Street is also great as the blustering, bound-to-secrecy Presidential advisor, Colonel Holmes.
This a truly delightful show and a surprisingly relevant poltical satire - and the music is fantastic! Comic songs, romantic songs, and big dramatic numbers. When the whole chorus belts out the title number it's a thrilling musical moment!
I hope you can come and see STRIKE UP THE BAND!
