Calling All Singers! City Opera Vancouver invites all local choirs, choruses and their members to participate in a unique musical event. On October 26, 2007, at 8:00 pm, Carl Orff's famous cantata Carmina Burana will be produced in Canada's first sing-along version. Join us at St Andrew's-Wesley Church in downtown Vancouver for an extraordinary evening in which a thousand people will be able to fulfill a great fantasy: singing the choral part in Orff's 20th century masterpiece. We will give Carmina Burana in the chamber version, with two pianos, three soloists, and four percussionists playing 15 instruments. The percussion section will be led by Sal Ferreras. The conductor is Dr. Charles Barber. Our soloists will shortly be announced. The entire event is a benefit for City Opera Vancouver, a new professional chamber opera company that will be resident at the restored Pantages Theatre in the Downtown Eastside.
