Many thanks to those who replied to my latest obscure computer quest, and special thanks to those who came through with the disks I was looking for! Fellow pack rats, I salute you! Now it's time to give a little something back. I have in my possession an extra Apple Remote - the slender little white remote that's bundled with more recent Macs. Long story as to why I have it, but at any rate I hate to just chuck it if someone out there could use it. If you're a Mac user who's lost or somehow damaged your remote... yo ...Continue Reading

(Apologies to a few folks who may be getting this twice.) Many thanks to everyone who replied to my previous similar question about the program SuperCard. I've abandoned that search but am now on a larger quest: being able to run good old OS 9 on my Intel Mac. The reason for my renewed persistence is that I've discovered that an extremely useful program which I use with some regularity (Adobe Streamline) only runs in OS 9 and it has no modern equivalent! I've found a utility that can supposedly run the old apps, b ...Continue Reading

Many thanks to everyone who replied to my previous similar question about the program SuperCard. The reason for my renewed persistence is that I've discovered that an extremely useful program which I use with some regularity (Adobe Streamline) only runs in OS 9 and it has no modern equivalent! I've found a utility that can supposedly do this, but it requires an install CD for Mac OS 9.0 (yes, not 9.1 or newer). ...Continue Reading

Hi all! I'm wondering if anyone out there has a Joost membership and can send me an invite to join up. The site concept definitely looks intresting: streaming TV shows, all legally arranged with content owners; full screen display; cool web 2.0 features overlaid on top. An interesting media experiment at the very least. However it's still in beta, which means you can't just sign up for it. Oh, no. You need an invitation to do so, from someone who already has a Joost membership. If anyone out there is already on board ...Continue Reading

I'm producing (well, my title is Producer but it's really more of a logistical/stage manager) an impressive upcoming choral music event: the Sing-Along Carmina Burana, produced by City Opera ...Continue Reading

Hi! I'm wondering if you, or anyone you know, might have a copy of a Mac program called SuperCard. I'll explain why. It's a modern version of an old Apple program called HyperCard. Using that, I created a little utility to balance my chequebook - and incredibly, over 15 years later, I'm still using it. Or, I was - until I discovered that my new iMac wouldn't run it any more. SuperCard can open my beloved old creation, and most importantly, make a stand-alone version that I can keep using. However, for that to work i ...Continue Reading

*Thought I'd share a few noteworthy recent items from my blog as well as mention some excellent musical training being offered by a friend of mine.* *This "Klock" is Still Ticking *When I picked up a kitschy-looking old record containing a motivational sales speech from the mid-60's by one Joseph P. Klock, little did I suspect that this dusty artifact would lead me to Joe Klock himself, still going strong at 80, who provided some intriguing info on that 40-year-old recording. ...Continue Reading

In response to some enquiries, just a quick note to clarify that the HAIRSPRAY SING-ALONG at the Fifth Avenue Cinemas is not only tonight but runs at least through next Thursday. Showtimes daily are 1:10, 3:50, 6:50, and 9:20. I could also go Sunday (preferably one of the earlier shows), Monday (any time since it's a holiday!) or Wednesday. If any of those days/times works better for anyone, let me know! Adam ----- To unsubscribe from this list, visit my homepage: http://www.adamabrams.com. Thanks! ...Continue Reading
