Just a quick note to let everyone know that the phone number given for tickets to "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" in my earlier mailout was wrong - the box office for the Shadbolt Centre is *(604) 205-3000.* My apologies, hope it didn't stop anyone from getting tickets! adam To unsubscribe to the list (but why would you ever want to), just visit AdamAbrams.com. ...Continue Reading

A Victorian vaudeville murder mystery where YOU decide whodunit! I am pleased to announce my participation in this latest APPLAUSE! Musicals production. Presented for the first time in the Lower Mainland, this Tony-award winning musical dares to tell the story of Charles Dickens' novel of the same name. Daring, as the book remains unfinished, due to the author's death in 1870 halfway through its writing. The resulting show is a wonderful blend of ribald comedy, compelling mystery and livel ...Continue Reading

Pillow Fights and Pastrami: Just another fun-filled day in Vancouver Who says Vancouver is a "no-fun city"? This was such a fun-filled day of unique activities that I wanted to share it with you. Here's the events I was fortunate enough to attend or participate in today: [*]a "flash mob" pillow fight in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery [*]"Sonic Playground" at the Western Front gallery [*]screening of a documentary about Sch ...Continue Reading

Hey everybody, Just want to spread the word about a relatively rare public performance this upcoming Saturday night by the wonderful a capella vocal group, Verve Collective. They have a really great sound, which you can hear samples of at their website, www.vervecollective.ca. The members are Lannette New, Jennifer Nagel, Joel Smith, Peter Brasso, Kate Polsky and Jerry Parsons. All are alumni of The Broadway Chorus and/or APPLAUSE! Musicals In Concert - so I'll be looking forward to seeing some familiar faces as well ...Continue Reading

Come see an amazing dance performance Hey everyone! This upcoming weekend, you have an opportunity to enjoy, free of charge, an electrifying tap and swing-dance performance, featuring a troupe of incredible dancers, set to a pulsating musical soundtrack. I'm part of this multimedia performance being presented as part of the gala opening of the Jewish Museum and Archives of British Columbia later this month. Althought the event itself is a real top-drawer affair and not for the f ...Continue Reading

...Anyone? You see, in a remarkable feat of mental confusion, I managed to miss my favourite, "must see" show tonight! I somehow got it in my head that it was on at 10, not 9. ARGHH! Instead of kicking myself around the room, (or rather, in addition to that step) I thought I'd just check if anyone happened to tape it. My fingers are crossed! Thanks... Thought this was worth passing along, and acting on. The city is becoming an eviction service for slumlords instead of using their powers to remedy the situation and maintain the dwindling social housing stock. Social housing is THE key to preventing homelessness... and all the other social ills from which it stems. - Adam ========================================== Bad news. The Piccadilly Hotel will evict its tenants this coming Wednesday, February 28, 2007. City inspectors say it's not up to code and it needs to ...Continue Reading

In case youre short on reasons to be paranoid, or you just enjoy the James Bond aspect of it all, check out this great video. Created by security expert Lauren Weinstein, its an eye-opening look at how to tell if Big Brother is listening to you via your cell phone. Unlikely, you say? Well, maybe. As he says, unless youre a mobster, terrorist, or perhaps a peace activist http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujosfSkHFrQ ----- To unsubscribe from this list, visit my homepage: http://www.adamabrams.com. A while back, the local oldies station launched into Tired of Waiting for You by The Kinks, and I was all set to sing along (being along in the car at the time). Except it turned out to be Five OClock World by the Dave Clark Five. Darned similar opening guitar riffs and tempos! Hmm, thought I, I bet with the tools at my disposal I could blend these two songs together. I think the kids call it a 'mash-up'. Well, one day when I find the time Well, I finally found the time. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you S ...Continue Reading

Apple has reworked its U.S. "Mac vs. PC" ads, this time using the British comedy duo of David Mitchell and Robert Webb. They also made the humour a bit more dry and subtle. They're hilarious. Check 'em out! http://www.apple.com/uk/getamac/ads/ Click the thumbnails at page bottom to view them all. The Restarting and Piechart ones are my favourites. - adam ----- To unsubscribe from this list, visit my homepage: http://www.adamabrams.com. Thanks! ...Continue Reading
